Les Manguiers (The Mango Trees) is a hidden away retreat a couple of kilometres north of Kampot town, down a bumpy dirt road and on the east bank of the Kampot River among rice fields.
The basic but comfortable accommodation is either in the main house or in the more spacious separate wooden bungalows. In both cases there is fan but no air-con and the bathroom facilities can be private or shared depending on your choice.
A dining area and several wooden porches for lounging hang over the river, facing the sunset. The more active will want to hire the kayaks, which are available to scoot around on the river, and if your timing's right, the river is aglow with phosphorescence at night making for a special swimming experience.
